We had a chance to go out to Ventura for an overnight stay to do a race on our way up to Morro Bay
We went out early on Friday to enjoy some time at the beach. Some of the extended Finlay family came out for the day to join us as well. All 4 Finlay great grandparents even made the trek. They were thoroughly entertained watching all the antics of the kids.
Like Nora and Preston. Preston loves to be buried...
so much he tried to keep himself in the sand.
The next morning was race time. I started first with the half marathon. James' brother, Ian, and his sister-in-law, Whitney also ran the 5k. (Ian won 1st overall, and Whitney 2nd in her age group!)
Brielle and Ethan were very excited to participate in the kid's fun-run. They were taking it seriously, getting all stretched out ahead of time.
It was a gorgeous run along the ocean.
Every runner received a medal AND a free box of girl scout cookies. The kids are ready to sign up for more races with that kind of incentive!
