The New Way to Crawl

It is a little bit colder again this week, so we are playing more inside again. :(

Ellie has decided she doesn't like normal crawling anymore. I'm going to try to get a longer video tomorrow, but this short one shows her new way of scooting around.

Just looking for a long lost favorite toy.

Library Friday

We try to go to the library at least once a week; usually Friday. Now that it is finally warm Ellie and I get to walk there. This morning I got out the stroller and Ellie got so excited and turned to me with a look that said "Great idea!"

She loves playing with the train set. Unfortunately she is not very quiet as she plays, so I can't let her play too long. I'm always afraid the librarians are going to come kick me out.

I am purposefully trying to raise a daughter that loves to read as much as I do. That way we can hang out and have read-a-thon parties together. Minimal energy quality time, what could be better?

Spring has Sprung!

My tulips finally starting blooming today.  Hooray!
We have been enjoying being outside and working on our grass and garden.  So far we just have weeds growing.  Ellie has caught the spring bug as well and likes to be outside as much as possible.

How Smart Are You?

blog readability test

I was intrigued by Cindi's post.
Who would have known? Apparently I'm a genius. :)
I think that is proof enough that the readability test isn't quite accurate.

You can't make me be happy!

We all woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Ellie was VERY grumpy. I couldn't decide if she was sick, hurt, tired or teething. We tried all the usual get the grumpiness away tricks: cuddling, bath time, nap, stories but nothing was working. So, the answer for today was a trip to the Potter Park Zoo.

I won't be happy today!

I'm serious, this is NOT fun.

It is just a fish, show me something better.

Fine, if you make me stay I'll just spit at you.

Woah, look at the Otter.

Mom, did you see that?

Okay, well maybe this is fun after all.

Fine, I'll be happy!

We decided to get a membership, so we'll be back again and again.
Brielle learned how to sign "dog" yesterday. She decided almost every animal at the zoo looked like a dog. The fox, wolf, goat...well, I guess they are pretty close. Maybe by the end of the summer she'll know a couple more animal signs.

We finally ran out

What is this? Just an empty box, but it use to have plastic wrap in it.
It is significant to me however, because today marked the day that I used the very last of the wrap. We bought this soon after we were married. So this box has lasted with us for our almost 5 years of marriage.
Our 5th anniversary is 2 weeks from tomorrow. I would say that if this box could talk it would tell you all about the great 5 years that our marriage has been so far...however the truth is that this box as mostly only seen the inside of the cupboards in a couple of different states that we've lived in.
3000 feet of plastic wrap behind us and many more to come.

Just a normal day

I just happen to like the shirt that Ellie is wearing today, and that is my only reason for posting. I'm working on making some hair clips for her birthday present. I figure that she won't care enough about them to wait and surprise her, so she gets to wear them ahead of time.

A Day at the Gardens

Brielle and I went with some friends to Grand Rapids to visit the "largest temporary butterfly exhibit in the US" at the Meijer Gardens.

I have to admit, I was so busy watching the baby birds, I didn't actually take many pictures of the butterflies. But they were beautiful! Ellie loved watching them fly around her.

Loving the Park

We have had a few warm days splattered in here and there between the rain and snow. We have taken advantage of those by going on walks or bike rides to the park. I put Ellie on the baby slide to start and she loved it so much I decided to try her over on the bigger slide. I love how she wiggles to get her self started.
